Access to Quality Education
It is Orient Petroleum’s belief that education is a universal right and that everyone should have unhindered access to quality education. We support a variety of educational initiatives to ensure the workforce of the future is productive. Orient, most recently, identified the lack of quality education facilities in areas around Zamzama Gas Field, where it extended support to upgrade existing schools as well as set up new educational facilities. Orient Petroleum also helped in reviving state-owned educational facilities that were completely shut down. At present, over 2,200 girls and boys are enrolled in these schools receiving primary and secondary education. Moreover, these schools have also employed around 85 female teachers. Furthermore, being conscious of the stakeholder participation, Orient Petroleum also supported establishment of School Management Committees (SMCs) which partner with parents and other members of the community.
